The Niagara College Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus offers students the opportunity to use the campus grounds, greenhouses and interior plant display as learning tools. The Niagara Region offers many off-campus laboratory sessions and interesting field trips to benefit students. Study at our beautiful Greenhouse through our horticultural programs.

2 year diploma program

A green thumb isn’t enough. To succeed in today’s highly competitive greenhouse and nursery industry, you’ll need to understand greenhouse operations, plant environment, pest management technology, labour management and much more. We offer more than 1,850 sq. m. (20,000 sq. ft.) of on-campus greenhouse space, as well as living labs, container and field nursery operations, and on-site greenhouse equipment.

This program has two study options:


Horticultural Technician

In this diverse program you will explore sustainable growing techniques for the landscape, garden, and greenhouse. You will study and research new technologies for producing flowers, fruits, turf and trees, and you will discover how the principles of plant health care enable you to maintain plants in a way that respects the biodiversity of the natural world.

With 80% of the population living in the urban environment the need for green space is more important than ever. Study the “how” and understand the “why”. Located in Canada’s horticultural heartland, you will get experience like no other as the Niagara-on-the-lake campus serves as a “living lab” complete with Ontario’s largest training greenhouse.
